04 Emotional Intelligence ROADMAP

Neuroscience-based Emotional Intelligence

Can Emotional Intelligence be learned? Yes – if people want to learn it, of course. We’ve transformed the Emotional Intelligence of leaders at all levels, from C-suite/ Executive Directors and senior Executives through Middle Managers to new and aspiring leaders, as well as frontline staff; teams and individuals.

Our unique Emotional Intelligence ROADMAP program is very popular and super-effective. Participants build a Roadmap of their Emotional-Intelligence-based Strengths and Development areas & blind spots, as well as considering the next action step(s) in their career and understanding their ongoing professional development needs.

Clients mostly deploy it for Mid-level Execs, but we’ve also run customised programs for non-management staff and graduate and other induction programs to help build a culture from the ground upwards, particularly when starting a new role.

A typical mid-level Executive program includes:

  • Group induction and introduction to the Roadmap and assessments
  • ECR360 Emotional Intelligence assessment for each individual
  • 15FQ+ personality assessment (optional, but recommended for deeper insights)
  • 4 hours of 1:1 Executive Coaching for each leader (more coaching can be added if required)
  • Coach adds supporting comments on Roadmaps
  • Participant signs off Roadmap
  • Word and pdf copies of Roadmap delivered so participants can use the document as an ongoing development resource
  • Roadmap can be shared with supervisors or can be a personal individual development tool

For less senior or non-management people, we’ve run this program:

  • Group induction and introduction to the Roadmap and assessments
  • ECR360 Emotional Intelligence assessment for each individual
  • 15FQ+ personality assessment (optional, but recommended for deeper insights)
  • A 3 1/2 hour workshop with 4 participants per workshop.
  • Includes 30-mns 1:1 Executive Coaching for each person
  • 2 hours of follow on 1:1 Executive Coaching for each leader (more coaching can be added if required)
  • Coach adds supporting comments on Roadmaps
  • Participant signs off Roadmap
  • Word and pdf copies of Roadmap delivered so participants can use the document as an ongoing development resource
  • Roadmap can be shared with supervisors or can be a personal individual development tool

Everything is customised to your needs. And of course additional, highly specialist elements can be added. Tell us what you need…we’ll build it!

Emotional Intelligence is the single most critical leadership capability. A lack of emotional intelligence in leaders can very rapidly erode psychological safety and lead to increased psycho-social hazards in the workplace.

There are many essential leadership behaviours that underpin great Emotional Intelligence. The most effective and respected leaders in this ultra-competitive world have high levels of Emotional Intelligence: it’s a must for today’s successful leaders. A lack of EQ can quickly curtail a promising career, create disengagement, increase staff turnover and reduce productivity.

Interestingly, recent research shows Emotional Intelligence peaks around Middle Management then drops sharply in Executive level leadership, hitting a low with C-Suite/ Executive Director/ Deputy Secretary level leaders.

There is ample research indicating a robust correlation between high levels of Emotional Intelligence and improved performance, engagement, and productivity. Your staff are your business. Take the people away and all you have is an empty office with a sign on the door/window. Leaders with low/declining emotional intelligence quickly create disengaged underperformers who either leave, or worse – stay.

Our neuroscience-based Emotional Intelligence programs are carefully designed to change on-the-ground behaviours in the workplace (and out of it!) to boost performance and fuel productivity as a result. And make for happier staff and leaders, in and out of the workplace.

Not only does Emotional Intelligence impact on your staff, it also impacts on your clients. Emotional Intelligence is critical to anyone in a client/customer service environment.

Our take on Emotional Intelligence is that it’s a completely holistic, 360-degree perspective. Whether you are a leader, peer, or a staff member, in an internal or external client-facing role, building Emotional Intelligence improves the practical ways people interact to create better teamwork, and respectful, harmonious, happier, more engaging and psychologically safe relationships with staff, colleagues, management and clients alike. And hence boost productivity and fuel performance.

Our Emotional Intelligence programs are underpinned by practical neuroscience, which not only gives people a compelling ‘why’, but it also gives evidence-based strategies to improve ‘the how’. We combine the latest research with our deep experience to bring you Emotional Intelligence programs that get results in the real-world workplace (and outside!).

Our customisable programs include group training; Emotional Intelligence 360° and individual assessments; group, peer and individual coaching programs. One-on-one Executive Coaching combined with our EQ 360° assessment tool is what we most often recommended for senior leaders.

Coaching Culture Leadership – Speaker Engagement – Chairman of CEO Institute Syndicates

I had Simon speak to my syndicates about the whole neuroscience perspective and how it relates to self-development, leadership skill sets and CEO performance. He was an excellent presenter receiving very high evaluations from all participants. His approach was practical and yet introduced members to neuroscience and its usefulness in understanding leadership development and I strongly recommend him to your chairs in the Sydney area. He also addressed the coaching role and the part it can play in personal development and team building. He also engaged with me fully prior to the sessions to make sure he came in at the right level to meet my members needs. I wholeheartedly recommend him to you and to your Chairmen.

Michael Powell, Chairman, CEO Institute Syndicates, Griffith University
